This easy craft using things you have around the house is a perfect way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and bring some light and color into your home!

SUPPLIES

Paper plate

Rainbow markers (crayons and paint also work)

Construction paper*

Scissors

Glue stick

String or something to hang your mobile**

*We wanted to use things we had around the house for this craft, so we used green construction paper and a few yellow post-it notes for the pot of gold. You could also use plain printer paper and color your own pot of gold!

**Around the house, we had a large rubber band, so we used this to hang our mobile.

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Color your plate.

Color both sides of the paper plate in rainbow strips. If you use markers or paint, you’ll have bright bold colors. For littler ones, crayons also work great!

Step 2: Make your pot of gold.

Cut out the shape of a pot on your green paper. Depending on the age of your child, you may need to draw the outline of the pot and have them do the cutting. Then, cut out little circles from the yellow paper for the gold. Glue the circles on your green pot using the glue stick.

Step 3: Spiral your plate.

Take your scissors and start anywhere on the edge of your plate. Cut around the plate in circles, moving closer and closer to the center, leaving about 2-3 inch strips.

Step 4: Attach your pot of gold.

On the outside end of the spiral, use the glue stick to attach the pot of gold.

Step 5: Hang your mobile.

Using a pen, poke a hole in the center of your spiral and use string (or whatever you have around the house) to hang your mobile. Hang it outside on a light windy day to see the spiral spin around in brilliant rainbow colors!
