Sometimes the thought of cleaning your entire home can be overwhelming. While there are certainly times that require a deeper cleaning, this one-hour home cleaning challenge (broken into six 10-minute sections) can show you and your family that there’s time in the day for work and play. Ready, set, put on some uplifting music, and clean!

Pick up and declutter. (0:00-0:10)

Clear those floors and counters. Have an organizational plan for filing schoolwork and mail that still needs to be dealt with and recycle the rest. A laundry basket can be the perfect tool as you move items like toys to their “back where you found them” destination.

Clear the sink. (0:10-0:20)

Your dishwasher is your friend, so let it do the hard work for you. After all, a 2018 study showed that handwashing dishes used 3.5 times more water on average than running a dishwasher. Load it up as much as you can. You may even have leftover time to give the sink a quick scrub.

Kitchen duty. (0:20-0:30)

By now, surfaces should be clear minus a toaster or coffee maker here or there. Use a disinfecting wipe to clean appliance handles and countertops. Then, sweep up the crumbs that made it to the floor despite your best “eat above your plate” reminders.

Everything dust go. (0:30-0:40)

Go from room to room wiping down furniture and décor. Don’t forget the windowsills!

Scrub the bathrooms. (0:40-0:50)

Sweep the floor and clean toilets, sinks, faucets, and counters. When you’re finished, set out fresh hand towels and wash cloths.

Be floored by how much you accomplished in the last 60 minutes. (0:50-0:60)

Now that the dust has settled, vacuum or sweep any floors remaining and shake out rugs from bathrooms or entryways.
