Fall means chillier days, warmer clothing, and pumpkin everything. To make the most of this wonderful season, check off every one of the activities on this list as a family to make it your most memorable autumn yet!

1. Pick a Pumpkin. Find the perfect pumpkins and enjoy the activities at your local pumpkin patch.

2. Make Homemade Applesauce. Whether you are using freshly picked or store-bought apples, warm up with some homemade applesauce.

INGREDIENTS

3 pounds of apples, peeled, cored, and chopped

1/3 cup water

2-4 tablespoons sugar

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Peel, core, and chop apples.

2. Mix the ingredients together.

3. Cook the apples and the rest of the ingredients in a large saucepan until soft. You can also use a crockpot set on low for 3 hours.

4. Mash the mixture together until you achieve your desired consistency.

3. Explore a Corn Maze. Dare to get lost and discover your way out of a corn or hay maze.

4. Rake a Leaf Pile. Every child should experience the joy of raking and jumping into a leaf pile. Don’t forget to take the time to lay in the pile and watch the leaves falling from the trees.

5. Carve a Pumpkin. The fun of scooping out pumpkin guts is as good as it gets as far as fall activities are concerned. Carve out different designs from faces to characters. You can also add candles on the inside and enjoy the sweetness of the light.

6. Take a Hay Bale Ride. It wouldn’t be fall without a fun family ride on a wagon or cart pulled by a tractor or horse.

7. Make a Scarecrow. Gather some old clothes and hay or fallen leaves to create a fun new friend for your yard.

8. Press Leaves in a Book. Go on a walk in state park or your neighborhood to collect some colorful leaves and bask in the glorious fall colors.

9. Create Bird Feeders Out of Pinecones. Grab some bird seed, peanut butter, string, and pinecones for this fun fall craft. Spread peanut butter around the pinecone before you roll it in bird seed. Use the string to hang the pinecone up for the birds to enjoy.

10. Roast Pumpkin Seeds. Roasted pumpkin seeds are one of fall’s simplest treasures. They make for a delicious snack, add crunch to a salad, and can be used in granola.

INGREDIENTS

1 1/2 cups raw pumpkin seeds

Olive oil

Sea salt

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Remove the stem from the pumpkin and use a large spoon to dig out the pumpkin guts and seeds.

2. Place in a colander and rinse seeds thoroughly, removing any stringy pumpkin pulp.

3. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Pat pumpkin seeds dry.

4. Add the seeds to a baking sheet and toss with olive oil and sea salt. Feel free to use other seasonings as well.

5. Spread your seeds out in an even layer on the baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes while stirring a few times to make sure they don’t burn.

6. Cool and serve.

11. Go Apple Picking. There’s nothing quite as enjoyable as heading to the outdoors for some apple-picking fun. Taste the different varieties of apples and bring your favorites home to enjoy bake in an apple pie.

12. Have a Picnic. Go for a fall drive and find the perfect place for an afternoon picnic.

13. Make Caramel Apples. Use some of your fresh-picked apples to make a sweet treat. Dip the apples in fun toppings like sprinkles or nuts to spruce them up.
